BERKSHIRE AND CONNECTICUT VALLEY
BICYCLE ROUTE SURVEY
prepared by John S. Allen, 1993
lightly revised and prepared for Web publication 1999
by the author.
This report was generated under a contract issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management to survey potential bicycle touring routes in the Connecticut and Berkshire valleys.
The report reflects weeks of research conducted by bicycle and automobile, and a review of the existing literature. It includes written descriptions of the proposed routes, as well as maps, cue sheets and photographs. It should be of use to bicycling activists and to planners. It can be of some use to bicycle tourists, though it is no substitute for maps and books intended for tourists. A bibliography provides a list of maps and books that describe routes in the area covered by this report.
