Problem 6: Reaching the Charles River

To get from the Back Bay Fens at the Victory Gardens, you have to cross the Bowker Overpass over the Massachusetts Turnpike, Commonwealth Avenue, Beacon St., and Storrow Drive, a four-lane road with dense, high-speed traffic. It can be done north-to-south by an adventurous bicyclist. Charlesgate East, northbound, connects to a ramp which gets you to the Charles River Bikepath directly.Charlesgate West, southbound, connect to parkland which extends to Mass. Ave., where you can use the existing ramp to the Charles River Bikepath.
