Celebrate a Car-Free Mothers Day on Francis Parkman Drive, which will be closed for the middle of the day. There will lots of activities, including bicycle and walking tours of the Emerald Necklace, BMX demonstrations, and more stationary activities, including mural drawing with Sidewalk Sam. |

Come experience Bostons's "Tour de Necklace." Rangers will stop along the way to discuss some significant sites throughout the 9 parks in the Emerald Necklace. The ride is approximately 13 miles with a stop for lunch along the way. The pace will be relaxed. |

Matters of Life and Death: A Walking Tour of Forest Hills Cemetery and Franklin Park June 3, 2001 Sunday, 1:00 pm ( Olmsted NHS and Forest Hills Educational Trust) |
This three-hour walk will explore the history and design of these two unique landscapes focusing on the work of Henry A.S. Dearborn, whose cemetery created a place both of memory and horticulture and Frederick Law Olmsted who designed his park as a verdant respite from the stifling city environment. Stops on the walk will include Lake Hibiscus and Entrance Drive in Forest Hills Cemetery, as well as Franklin Park's Scarboro Pond and Wilderness. |

Olmsted Day Celebration July 4, 2001 Wednesday, noon - 4:00 pm (Olmsted NHS, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Jamaica Pond Project) |
Activities at Jamaica Pond will include live music, ranger-guided landscape walks, and a variety of activities for people of all ages, including special programs by the New England Aquarium. Trolleys will shuttle people between the pond and the historic Olmsted home and office which will be hosting an open house with refreshments. |
Two locations: the Olmsted-designed Jamaica Pond in Jamaica Plain and the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site in Brookline. |
