Bikes Not Bombs
16th Annual Bike-A-Thon

Some of BNB's fantastic programs are facing downsizing because of a severe
budget shortfall for the fiscal year 2004. We could never have created the
Center and all the community-building BNB does without grassroots
fundraising efforts like the annual Bike-A-Thon. BNB helps young people to
become leaders. Now we need your help more than ever to maintain our
commitment to community. Please join us or sponsor a rider this year!

THE MONEY YOU RAISE WILL HELP BIKES NOT BOMBS GROW . . .

Help BNB through our 19th year of local and international service work. Now
in our 10th year at the Bicycle Recycling and Youth Training Center in
Roxbury, BNB must raise over $360,000 yearly to cover expenses. We stretch
this money to cover six areas of youth programming, Earn-a-Bike, Vocational
Training, Summer Youth programs, After-school tutoring, Girls In Action, and
Bicycle Education Courses in public schools. The budget also enables BNB to
ship over 1000 bikes annually to Central America and Africa, to provide
technicians, to buy specialty tools and collaborate on project development.
With your help we plan to raise $32,000 from this year's Bike-A-Thon.

HOW IT WORKS: INFORMATION FOR RIDERS AND SPONSORS

Every Rider is an important fundraiser for Bikes Not Bombs.

Before the ride each cyclist asks their family, friends, neighbors and
co-workers to contribute to Bikes Not Bombs. Start today! Your sponsors can
pledge money for each mile you ride or just give a total pledge. Record each
sponsor's name, phone # and address on the Pledge Sheet and ask them to make
their contribution in advance with a check made out to Bikes Not Bombs.

(The Pledge Sheet is included in the brochure. You can also download one to
print out from our website at www.bikesnotbombs.org - it will be available
within another day or two.)

Choose the ride that suits your ability. Call us if you have any questions.
All Rides end at Mississippi's Restaurant with a gourmet dinner and prizes.
