MassBike Fall Rally

Why Pledge to MassBike?

MassBike is just about to begin a major endeavor to remedy the lack of bike safety programs funded by TEA money. If the much discussed MassBike Fall Rally can raise $20,000, then we have a chance of getting $200,000 in TEA funds for a statewide grade-school-based bike safety program!

One of the main reasons that much of the TEA money isn't used for educational programs is because of the requirement that State put up about 10-20% of the funds themselves. States usually just don't want to commit that much education money to bicycling, it's just not an educational priority. But, there is a lot more highway money to spare for quaint little bike projects (especially if it will get cyclists off the roads and out of the motorists' way, and raises tourism business). It's all a matter of priorities. That's why MassBike is trying to raise the State's matching funds on it's own.
