First Annual First Day Hike to Crane Ledge

I thought that I could bike downtown to the annual CRW New Years Day Bike Ride, leave the
ride early, bike home, drive to the Blue Hills for a First Day Hike, drive home, and bike
to three New Year's Day open houses in Jamaica Plain, but when I got to Houghton's Pond,
there was no place at all, anywhere to park, so I headed home. On my way back, I realized
that I could start a new tradition with a short First Day Hike in my own neighborhood, away
from the crowded Blue Hills, so I parked at Walgreens and walked up to Crane Ledge, our local
wilderness in the city. I took lots of pictures, drove home and biked to all three of the
open houses in Jamaica Plain.
