Spring along the Neponset River Starting at 10:00 am at Tenean Beach in the Port Norfolk section of
Dorchester, we'll follow the Neponset Trail up the Neponset River to
Readville in Hyde Park, stopping to rest twice, at Ryan Playground in
Mattapan and at Walcott Square in Hyde Park. From the second rest stop,
we'll follow Hyde Park Ave. to B St. and take a little-known
bicycle/pedestrian bridge across the Neponset River to the confluence of
Mother Brook and the Neponset. We'll cross Dana Ave, and follow Walnut St,
Nott St, and Fairmount Ave back to the Neponset Trail at Truman Parkway
and follow that until the Blue Hill Parkway crossing before Mattapan Square.
We'll go straight onto Curtis Rd across Blue Hill Ave and take that to
Eliot St. to Adams St. in Milton Village, turn left, then right at River St.
and right on Medway St to Ventura Park, where we'll circle the neighborhood
and rejoin the trail via a ramp through the Butler St. trolley station
and head back to Tenean Beach.
For those that are interested, we'll follow the route of the future
Dorchester Coast section of the Neponset Trail to Victory Road and back,
with a stop at Phillips Candies for a bit of chocolate.

entrance on Poplar near South for a bike ride to concerts on 6 porches
during Roslindale 's Porchfest, with maybe a few other stops along the
way. Porchfest concerts are from 1:30-5:30. Last year, we found a fun

Bike Ride North from the Neponset Trail
Join the Neponset River Greenway Council at 1:00 pm for a bike ride along
the future Neponset Trail north from its current end at Tenean Beach in
Dorchester. We'll be riding north off-road as much as possible, coming
back on busier streets on bike lanes as much as possible. Total distance
will be about 15 miles.
Sunday, October 16, 2022:
Bike Ride South from the Neponset Trail After meeting at 1:00 pm at Paul's Bridge at the Milton/Readville
line, we'll follow the Neponset River south on its east side to its
East Branch in Canton and the 185-year-old Canton Viaduct, which still
carries Amtrak over the river on its way south to New York from Boston.
On our way south, we'll take a detour to Signal Hill, on the River south
of Rt. 128 and west of I-95, and on the way back, we'll detour on a gravel
path which used to be a runway at the old Canton Airport, which could
easily connect with Signal Hill if it weren't for I-95. We'll bike back
to Pauls Bridge through Norwood, Westwood, Dedham, and the Readville
neighborhood of Boston, where we'll stop to check out Sprague Pond.
